Xen Software Downloads

This page contains important information and downloads for your Liquivision Xen bottom timer.

Below you find detailed instructions on how to download the firmware updater and the dive logger for Windows as well as for Mac OS X.

Windows Users

There are three main software items that can be downloaded for the Xen:

  1. Drivers (required in order to use the PC interface device for anything at all)
  2. Liquivision PC dive logging software (so you can download your dive profiles)
  3. Xen Firmware updates (to fix small bugs in your Xen’s internal operational software/firmware)

IMPORTANT - Installing new software on your Xen may reset your unit's memory. For this reason, prior to starting the install, you should make sure:

  1. You have downloaded any dive logs
  2. You have your free Xen Unlock PIN Code available

Section 1: Drivers

Before you can download dive logs or upgrade your Xen firmware, you need to download and install the appropriate drivers for your PC.

The drivers are made by FTDI. If you are technically-minded and want more information on them, you can visit www.ftdichip.com.

Section 3B: Installing New Firmware

You should always run the latest and most recent software on your Xen. You may already have the latest version, which makes an upgrade unnecessary.

You can find out which version you are running and whether you need to upgrade by checking the Xen Software History. Some early versions of the software have minor bugs which were fixed in later versions.

If you have determined that your software should be upgraded, follow the steps below. Please note that you MUST have already installed the Liquivision Firmware Updater on your computer prior to following the steps below!

  • Connect the Enlightened PC Interface to your computer with the included USB cable (see photo below)
  • Make sure the USB cable is plugged into the Enlightened PC Interface (see photo below)
  • Place the Xen unit on the desk, on its side, with the PC interface aiming for the eight holes on the backplate (see below)
  • The distance from the PC interface to the Xen should be between 2cm and 4cm (1-2 inches).

Mac OS X Users

Section 1: Downloading and Installing the Software

There are two software items that can be downloaded for the Xen:

  1. Liquivision dive logging software (so you can download your dive profiles)
  2. Xen Firmware updates (to fix small bugs in your Xen’s internal operational software/firmware)

Compatibility

Please note that the software is only compatible with Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion (not with Leopard or any earlier versions of Mac OS).

Installation of the Software

You can download the mac installation package here.
After downloading the file double click it. It will mount as a drive where you then see the Liquivision Loader and the Liquivision DiveLogger.
To install those two programs drag each one of them into the Applications folder.
You can then start the programs by selecting them from your Applications folder.

PLEASE NOTE

This is a beta release of the software. Even though we have tested it extensively we cannot guarantee that it works on your Mac or on your unit nor can we be held liable for any problems or loss of data you might encounter.

Section 2: Using the Dive Logger

The Liquivision Dive Logger program allows you to download your dive logs from your Kaon. In order to use it you must have a Enlightened PC interface device.
After installing the software from here you can start the Dive Logger from your Applications folder. After starting it you have to create a username for yourself, and you’re ready to go!
Make sure to save your profile upon exiting the program, otherwise the dive logs won't be saved.

You can find more detailed instruction on how to use the Liquivision Dive Logger software in the Xen User Manual.

Section 3: Updating your Unit

You should always run the latest and most recent software on your Xen.

You can find out which version you are running if you go into "Preferences" and "Status" on your unit. Then compare the software version that is displayed there with the latest one available under Xen Software History.

If you have determined that your software should be upgraded, follow the steps below. Please note that you MUST have already installed the Liquivision Firmware Updater on your computer prior to following the steps below!

Please note that there is a chance that updating your unit's firmware completely resets your unit which means that all your custom settings will be deleted as well as your dive log. Therefore please save your dives first and make a mental or written note of your custom settings as well as of your PIN which your might have to reenter after updating your unit.

In case you lost your PIN you can retrieve it here: Update Owner Info

To Start:

  • Make sure the Liquivision Firmware Updater has been installed on your computer (see above)
